My journey as a Christian didn’t begin until much later in life. I started my work life as a New South Wales Police officer, mainly in the area of forensic science. Being a Crime Scene Examiner, you see and experience both the tragedy and best that people have to offer in life. In search of greener pastures, I entered the world of business and then teaching, before taking on senior leadership roles in education and not for profit management. It was in these areas I realised that there is more to life than wealth and self-interest. Eventually in my early 40’s, reaching a point of despair and wanting to find meaning and purpose for my life, I found a path to faith and belief in Jesus Christ.
I’ve been in Christian ministry for 15 years leading in both local church and chaplaincy environments. Working in a variety of senior leadership roles, I have supported people in dealing with difficult situations. This has included - providing practical on the ground training and Christian support services, and Christian counselling for outcomes in complex and challenging situations; prison ministry – for some an experience of life’s lowest moment; support of families experiencing conflict, relationship issues and domestic violence; working in both small and large church situations – dynamics and challenges in both; ministry support – advocacy, counselling, coaching, supporting those experiencing trauma, mentoring, spiritual guidance, and supervision.
